Fashion

Fashion

"Fashion is art and you are the canvas"
- Velvet Paper

As you may or may not know I am Pinterest obsessed, have been for quite some time now, you could call me the Pinterest queen. Pinterest is filled with ideas, quotes, DIY's, fashion, you name it, it's bound to be there. Whenever I am planning a shoot Pinterest is always my go to for inspiration and ideas, as I did for this fashion shoot. This series was shot late last year and was in fact my very first fashion shoot. After this shoot I fell deeply in love with fashion as well as fashion photography and it is now probably my most fav genre to shoot as it is extremely creative and beautiful results always follow from these types of shoots. What I have learnt so far in my journey is that the more wild and crazy the ideas and shoot are, the more fun you are bound to have and it will most definitely show up in your photographs.

This shoot was a very simply, minimal fashion look, as I wanted it to be about not only the clothes but this gem of a location I found which I am totally in love with. Abandoned buildings will always be at the top of my list for location shooting as there is just something about them that makes me believe that yet it is abandoned it still remains an art form with true and natural beauty.

High polka dot collard shirts, sunnies and cute frilly socks pairs with the cutest vintage styled shoes what outfit could be more Pinterest inspired?

I have always loved anything vintage, as long as its got all its parts and is of my interests I am bound to buy it!

I hope you have enjoy this short little post for today, promise I shall be back soon with more regular blog posts and much more exciting content!

Enjoy you day!

So heres a few pics I shot recently whilst causing havoc in my kitchen.

Colour Powder Series

Colour Powder Series

"It's not easy to be a colour in this black and white world"

A couple of weeks ago I decided to plan a colour series shoot, where I bought tons of coloured powder from a local spice store and got two models and a few extra friends to come along to help as it could get messy..which it sure did. I really wanted a forest background so I decided that the best place for this shoot would be at one of those forests in the Balito area with all the tall trees around, and we found it, the perfect location!

The tall trees and fallen leaves helped set a beautiful background for this shoot but the weather up there on the day was a bit tricky and the wind was on another level, but I suppose you could say it did help with the throwing of the powder, the direction however was a bit of a challenge.

This photograph was my favourite taken of the day as I just find there is a lot of emotion and curiosity in this image. The way the wind blew her hair perfectly, only revealing  one eye looking directly at the lens, theres just something about it that I love so much! The colour powder just adds that little extra sparkle to the photo to make it just that little bit more exciting and interesting.

I took quite a few close up photographs similar to this one as there is just so much more expression and detail in shots like this especially with the range of coloured powder on his face in this particular photograph. I did a bit of editing to his eyes just to make them stand out that little bit extra as they are the main focus of this image, I think his eyes draw attention and show so much meaning in this photograph.

Here are a few extra photographs from that day..

Hope your day was filled with colour, smiles and good times.

Workplace Brief

Workplace Brief

"children are not things to be moulded, but people to be unfolded"

About a month ago I got the privilege to be able to photography these beautiful children at a school not far from home with a group of my college buddies, it was a lovely day filled with smiles and giggles from these children whom appreciated every little thing and it was a true eye opener and when I left I was able to appreciate all the amazing things I had and have been able to do in my life that these children may never have or do.

There wasn't one child that I met that day whom didn't smile at me and make me smile because of something small they might have done or said, they were truly special.

I believe that people should do more for funding education and young children of today as they are the future and we should be improving and looking after the new generations of our country.

All children are so different and have so many different characteristics that I honestly had a great time photographing them and I love how through the photographs you can see each child's different personalities, and thats what makes photographing children especially a very special and rewarding experience.

Have a good day and remember to appreciate the little things in life.

Fine Art - Euthanasia

Fine Art - Euthanasia

A couple of months ago we were assigned a Fine Art assignment due for college and the time we had to plan this assignment was about a month but it felt like much less as I didn't have a set idea until 2 weeks before it was due and I still had to shoot the series. I initially wanted to do a series on cancer patients as when I was around the age of 10 I lost my grandparents to cancer but I was too young to understand it and I wanted to learn more about it, but I soon changed my mind as I felt it might be too much for me to handle and also I didn't want to be a disturbance to other people, not only that but I also wanted to add a  positive aspect to my topic that I could speak about without everything having
to be sad and negative, as most people see death as a negative life event.

So in the end my theme for my Fine Art assignment was, "Euthanasia"
For my assignment I looked into the positive aspects of assisted suicide.
(known as Euthanasia)

There are many debates on Euthanasia, whether it should be legalised or not and many other aspects of it, in a few countries it has been legalised but it is illegal in many more and this confused me so I decided to explore the reasons why, so for many hours I sat on the Internet reading different blogs, websites and watching documentaries about this widely argued topic of Euthanasia.

I enjoyed shooting this project immensely as it had a deep meaning behind it which I enjoy, as I feel if you are taking photographs to spread a message or to show something of meaning with a story behind it then it is more beneficial and more rewarding as a photographer.

The last time I checked, dying was not a crime.

Wedding

The Wedding :

A couple of months ago one of my eldest cousins asked me if I would like the opportunity of being her wedding photographer, as we all know weddings can be expensive, I mean super pricy. So with them having a tight budget I was more than happy to be their photographer as this would happily be my wedding gift to them. This would be my first wedding whilst studying photography and to be honest I was more than nervous! The day came and I was up at 6 ready to start the big day..it had finally arrived.

The preparation

I love the look on the brides face here as she looks in the mirror to see
her wedding day makeup for the first time.

Bridesmaid with the flower girl getting a little lipstick done.

The mother of the bride starting her water works during the
makeup process..not a good idea haha.

The Bride

Lee-ann was honestly such a relaxed bride, I mean what bride do you know
would want to reapply their own lipstick just before the wedding, the
reason she had to reapply was because before this shot she was eating
pizza, love it haha!

The Dress

Her dress was stunning, it was a shimmering white dropped waist gown
with a beautifully designed sweetheart neckline embedded with diamonds
with a chapel styled train. Her shoes? She wore sparkling silver flats, and
nobody even noticed..you go girl!

Hand in hand officially husband and wife.
(Lee-Ann even had her nails done to the point
where her wedding ring finger has the words
"Mrs" painted on, so cute!)

I saw this idea on Pinterest and I fell love with it, it is the
three generations of family, so on the far right we
have the mother of the bride, the middle is the bride
and on the far left we have the brides grandmother,
all with their wedding bands on I think this is a very
beautiful idea and so very special too.

 The creative shoot

The creative shoot was honestly so much fun, the sunset was absolutely
perfect which made for the most beautiful lighting so I was very happy!
I used my flash to add in some fill-in light on them. The location could
not have been any better, I love the colours and contrast so much!

These two were such a fun and loving couple! They were super easy
to work with as they knew what they wanted and were not camera
shy and knew exactly what I meant when suggesting an idea.
Natural photos are and will forever be my favourite types of
photographs as their is so much genuine emotion in them
that makes them so beautiful to look at.

The End

Then the wedding finally came to an end and I was pretty
proud of myself for surviving my first wedding as a
photographer and to be honest it wasn't as bad as I
had expected it to be, but i'm not going to lie I was
very keen to get to bed after that night!

Cheers..literally!
